From the west use the A6003 from Uppingham or Oakham.

The Nature Reserve is a protected wetland and is an ideal location to study all aspects of Environmental Education linked to the National Curriculum.

Using active enquiry methods students of all ages can:

• investigate and study the natural environment with the help of teacher-naturalists.
• study the many different habitats and animals that live here.
• investigate the ecological similarities, adaptations and interaction between these animals and their habitats.

Methods used to do this include:

• pond dipping
• birdwatching
• the study of woodlands, hedgerows and meadows.
